CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK TOURNAMENT

WMGA CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT RESULTS 2013

The Club Championship was held at the War Memorial Golf Course this past Saturday and Sunday beginning at 9:00A.M. both days.

Winners are eligible to play in the Tournament of Champions in Hot Springs, Arkansas November 9th and 10th. The deadline to enter the tournament is October 31, 2013. Registration Sheets are available for the winners at the club house and online at the asga.org website. The Winners of this year's tournament will have their names engraved on the President's Cup Trophy in the Club House. Cost to enter in the tournament is $125.00 for each winner. Each participant receives six dozen Srixon Golf Balls. They are the sponsor of the tournament.

The War Memorial Golf Association will have it's next regular Meeting on the Second Saturday in November. We're shooting for a second installment on the Rules Seminar. Because the Tournament of Champions will be November 9 and 10th let's meet this November on the 1st Saturday in November.We'll also discuss plans for coming tournaments of Christmas in the Park, and the Irish Cup.

Oscar Taylor Wins First Place  in the Super- Seniors Division with a 3 day total score of 193. He receives the award from Dick Cochran

Ronnie Johnson from Hot Springs Wins 1st Place in Senior Division with a 3 day total score of 193

Tracy Harris takes First Place with a 3 day total score of 190 in the Mid-Seniors. Just Think he could have won the Tournament in the Championship Division if he only had entered.

Entry Fee $50.00

Entries must be postmarked no later than April 12, 2013

(No refunds after April 20, 2013.)

Trophies will be awarded to boys ages 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17and 18.

Trophies will be awarded to girls in respective flights.

Players shall not have reached their 19th birthday on or before April 28, 2013, and shall not have attended college or other post-high school educational institution.

 SHOTGUN START EACH DAY AT 9:00 A.M.

Qualifications for the GLRJGC require that each player must be an ASGA Junior Member and must have a current established USGA handicap index. The handicap requirements for age divisions and the number of players the committee will accept are as follows: Boys Division Age 12 – Accept first 10 players with index of 18.0 or less Age 13 – Accept first 12 players with index of 16.0 or less Age 14 – Accept first 15 players with index of 12.0 or less Age 15 – Accept first 15 players with index of 11.0 or less Age 16 – Accept first 15 players with index of 9.0 or less Age 17 – Accept first 15 players with index of 9.0 or less Age 18 – Accept first 15 players with index of 9.0 or less Girls Division Accept 21 girls with a maximum handicap index of 24.0 or less   Format:  Stroke Play – 18 holes Saturday and 18 holes Sunday.  Girls – Red tee markers; Boys 12 and 13 – Red tee markers; Boys 14 and older white tee markers. The Committee reserves the right to limit the field to 100 golfers if it determines it would be in the best interest of the tournament.

The War Memorial Golf Association heard from Ralph Williams on the Rules of Golf. Here are some videos from yesterday.In the audience were members, John McCarty, Frank Putt, Sue Bowling, Kevin O'Malley, Mark Ross, Ray Riggs, and Robert Baker. Members rejoined and discussed some possible projects including volunteering at the USGA sponsored event this summer at Aloation Country Club.  Members can find out more information at the ASGA website.
