NEW? WHAT'S HAPPENING AT THE OLD, AND THE NEW GOLF COURSE?

Some work on the the new 13th What's this? A pipe with some electric wires coming from the creek?

Looking upto the 14th tee from the fairway

A view from the Bridge going over the creek at the old 17
Its the end of the second week almost, and it doesn't look like there has been much progress, but then, I'm not even an amature. You may have been wondering why the old 14, 15, and 16 were closed. Part of it is because they are working on the new 14 and don't want people hitting balls into workers. They're doing some work on the creek on the old 17 and can't have people hitting into them. The unstated reason for closing the old 16 is that the state is building skyboxes at the stadium and is using part of the hole for storage of items until they can be put in their proper place. They have also done some work on the side of the hill on the old 16 to shore it up. Its not clear if the side of the hill is being taken by the State or not.

Here is a shot looking down to the green of the new 14th hole with the pond in the background.
See the two poles lying on part of the old 16th hole and some dirt and stone on the hillside. Very interesting.

Guess there are changes to the old 16 that we weren't told about.

I was looking down from the tee area at the old 16 down to the green. You can see where the hillside is cut away. The white streem on the left side of the photo is drainage from the construction at the stadium.
Another shot of part of the old 16th that shows the carved out hillside and poles from the Stadium resting on the hole.

Some idea of what the skyboxes at the stadium will look like. Money talks.

The City of Little Rock Plan for War Memorial Park

Truman Tolefree presented an update on the City's Plan for the War Memorial Park which includes some changes to the golf course. The result it looks like might be two challenging par 3 holes in place of 17. and changing 13 to a par 3. Take a look.
