Christmas In the Park Gets Closer to Christmas and Winter on Second Day

The first day of the Tournament was a balmy windy day and just like summer in December. The second day was a chilling day back to winter and not the greatest conditions for golfers. Some players preferred to walk to keep warm because without heaters or plastic golf cart enclosures the wind was a killer. (Those covers can be purchased through the golf shop and run somewhere below $150.00 I think).

Santa Clause? pre Christmas loads the presents after the tournament to deliver them to Toy Hill for the Christmas In the Park Tournament. Contestants donated an unwrapped present to Toys for Tots for a free golf cart.

Jay Lester and Kirby Webb won First Place Championship Flight at the War Memorial Golf Course and shot a 2 day total of 119 with a 59 on the first day scramble and 60 on the second day four ball. Jay Lester shot a 2 on the 12th hole on Sunday. He hit a 3 wood on his second shot to the green and in the hole. Holy cow! Not a birdie, not an eagle, but something between a hole in one and an eagle. I guess a double eagle? Help me out here. Steve Allinson and John Cloud won 2nd place in the Championship Flight with a 59 on the first day and a 67 on the second day for a combined total of 126.

Breck Speed and Pat O'Brien won First Place First Flight at the War Memorial Golf Course and shot a two day total of 134 with a 66 on the first day and 68 on the second day.  Ross McCain IV and Jimmy Lasley won second place in the first flight with a first day score of 65 and a second day score of 70 for a combined total score of 135. Ross McCain and Thomas McCain won third place in the First Flight with a first day score of 65 and a second day score of 73 for a combined score of 138 in the First Flight. The McCains gave their share of the winnings to the War Memorial Golf Association. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We're not a 501 c 3 I hope they know that. I'll be sure to tell them in case they change their mind.

Jim Fowler and David Menz clinched first place in the Second Flight with a first day score of 69 and a second day core of 68 for a combined score of 137. They were the only team to play better on the second day then any of the other players. They were ready for the cold weather.
Darren Wagner and Howard McCain won second place in the Second Flight with a first day score of 70 and a second day score of 70 for a combined score of 140.

The Christmas tree in the golf shop is adorned with actual golf balls as ornaments! Golfers were treated to a box lunch from Jason's Deli each day and Coffee donated by Danny Hill's Standard Coffee with a Christmas Blend and Regular Coffee. War Memorial Golf Association donated Donuts and Christmas Cookies.
